SUMMARY
After downgrading the latest hardware revision of a SwyxDECT Handset D863 below a certain firmware version the device will be in a state irreparable by the user.
The device has to be sent in!
Avoid downgrading the device in any case.
INFORMATION
The latest hardware revisions of the SwyxPhone D863 handset are not compatible with older firmware versions.
Affected handsets
- SwyxPhone D863 Handset
- All handsets of the Ascom d63 series (DH7 series), i.e. Talker, Messenger, Protector, both with and without Bluetooth support (Lite version)
The hardware revision can be found on the sticker in the battery case of the handset. At the end of the product ID (e.g. DH7-AAAA for SwyxPhone D863) and separated by a slash you can find the 2-digit hardware revision (e.g. "/1J").
Affected devices have a revision number greater than or equal to "/2A" or "/3A".
Affected Firmware
The handsets are delivered with the latest firmware and must not be downgraded to a firmware version lower than 2.12.39. If a downgrade should be carried out, the firmware version must not be changed.
If a downgrade is nevertheless carried out, the display will remain dark and the unit will no longer start. The device cannot be repaired by the owner - it has to be sent in.
Note for Swyx Installations
Depending on the operating mode of the SwyxDECT 800 installation different points have to be considered.
- Swyx DECT Integration:
For DECT installations that are operated in the Advanced Swyx DECT Integration mode, the firmware version offered in the Swyx Control Center should be checked before deploying a new handset.
Does the firmware version correspond to the version of the last two firmware packages released by Enreach?
- SwyxDECT 800 Firmware Pack v.11.8.10 (v1)
- SwyxDECT 800 Firmware Pack v.11.4.4 (v2)
In that case the handset can be connected without hesitation and updated by the automatic firmware update to the firmware version 2.15.3 contained in both packages.
If the system still has the firmware version from the initial introduction of the Advanced Swyx DECT integration (SwyxDECT 800 Firmware Pack v.11.4.4 (v1) ) with Swyx 13, the system must first be updated to the latest firmware version.
If this is not possible, the automatic firmware update for the handset must be switched off in the Swyx Control Center to prevent a downgrade to the 2.12.9 included in this outdated package. - Standard installation without Swyx DECT Integration:
Do not adapt the firmware version of the new handset to the firmware version of the installation if the version in use is older than version 2.12.39. - Installations with Ascom Unite or Ascom Elise:
Prevent an automatic update (or downgrade) via the Firmware Management Tool if a firmware version older than 2.12.39 would be distributed.
