Howto: Swyx Flex & Swyx Purchase Model - Activation Process

Note: The activation process described below requires SwyxWare v12.10 or later!

SwyxWare uses online licensing in the new Swyx Flex & Swyx purchase model. This means that the SwyxServer of a customer installation contacts the central Swyx License Server at regular intervals.

The Swyx License Server is aware of all orders placed with the new Swyx Operator.

The activation process ensures that a SwyxWare installation is linked to the correct order placed via Swyx Operator.

Starting with SwyxWare v12.10 the activation process is simplified. Basically you only need 2 steps:

• Step 1: In Swyx Operator you order a Swyx Flex or Swyx Purchase Model License for your customer. You will receive an activation key with this order.
• Step 2: You enter this activation key during or after the installation of SwyxWare at the customer's site. The rest is done automatically.

Step 1: Generate Activation Key

• First order a Swyx Flex or Swyx Purchase Model license following these instructions.
• Then select this order, for example via the menu Management/Services/Swyx. Click on the desired order number.
• In the order details click on the tab Activation.
  
• Then click on the button Generate Token. The following view appears:
  
• Copy the Activation Key for example via the button Copy Token to the clipboard and save it, or send it to yourself via e-mail.

• Notes:

  • A generated Activation Key has no expiration date and can also be used for the first time only after a few weeks.
  • A generated Activation Key can only be used once with a SwyxWare, i.e. activate it.
  • A new Activation Key is typically only necessary for SwyxWare reinstallation, e.g. hardware change.

Step 2: Enter the Activation Key in SwyxWare

• Install SwyxWare as usual.
• At the time the SwyxWare configuration wizard asks for the type of licensing, select Online Licensing:
  
• Follow the further steps of the configuration wizard until this dialog appears:
• Enter the Activation Key in the above dialog and click on the Activate button.
• After the activation, go through the further steps of the configuration wizard as usual.
• Your SwyxWare is now activated!
  
  Alternative
  You can also activate the SwyxWare at a later time, or activate a SwyxWare with a new order. The Swyx Control Center offers you this possibility. Proceed as follows:
• Navigate in the Swyx Control Center to the menu General Settings/Licenses and Features.
• Then click on the Enter Activation Key button:
• In the following input field please enter the activation key and click on the button Activate.
• Your SwyxWare is now activated!
