Exchange Online - Deprecation of Basic authentication

We would like to inform you that we will support Microsoft Exchange Online in connection with the operation of a Swyx system and the management of voicemail messages with Swyx 13.27. We plan to release this version at the beginning of the year 2023.

In this article we would like to inform you about the consequences of the upcoming deprecation of Basic Authentication in Microsoft Exchange Online in connection with the operation of a Swyx system.

Please note that this article only refers to Exchange Online and not to on-premisses Exchange installations.

In this article, Microsoft also notes the timing of the shutdown with the following statement:

"On September 1, 2022, we announced there will be one final opportunity to postpone this change. Tenants will be allowed to re-enable a protocoloncebetween October 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022. Any protocol exceptions or re-enabled protocols will be turned off early in January 2023, with no possibility of further use. The deactivation of Basic Authentication means that you will no longer be able to listen to voicemails with SwyxIt! or end devices such as SwyxPhones. Filing and therefore listening to messages in Microsoft Outlook will still be possible.

Enreach is planning to provide a Swyx 13.25 version by the end of 2022 that moves the management of voice messages directly into the SwyxServer. Basic Authentication in Microsoft Exchange Online will then not be required to listen to voicemails outside of Microsoft Outlook.

If you are affected by the shutdown in Exchange Online as described above, we recommend an update to Swyx 13.25.
