Summary:
With SwyxWare 2013 the Authentication-Method for Voicemail Remote Inquiry for IMAP4 has been changed.
While in the past SwyxWare used LOGIN, from SwyxWare 2013 on PLAIN will be used by default.
Information:
The difference between both of these authentication methods is the is the possibility to use special characters as different encodings can be used.
PLAIN allows the usage of passwords with UTF -8, LOGIN uses ASCII and has therefore no support for special characters like Umlauts.
MS Exchange servers understand both authentication methods. Other mail servers providing IMAP authentication might offer LOGIN only.
The authentication method used by SwyxWare can be changed. With the following registry key the authentication will be changed from LOGIN (pre SwyxWare 2013 behaviour) to PLAIN (from SwyxWare 2013 on behaviour):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\{Wow6432Node}\Swyx\IpPbxIMAP4\CurrentVersion\Options
Name: UseAuthenticatePlain
Typ: Reg_DWORD
Value: 0
SwyxWare 2013 will now use LOGIN as the Authentication-Method against IMAP4-Servers.
